Automating the Hospital Information System

What is a Hospital Information System or HIS???

A hospital Information System, is a system that already for the clinical settings or Hospitals. And it is divided into 2 division, the clinical and non-clinical division. As we all know that clinical division is all about in clinical settings, that can help us future nurses, or other healthcare provider to do our job accurate with speed. :)
While the non clinical division are all about financing of the patients, their admission-discharge-transfer, their personnel and their administrative system. Those things or system are also in the clinical settings, its just all about their status in hospitals. In short, it is the computer hardware and software that processes a hospital's data, including financial, Pt-related, and 'strategic' management data, Pt accounts, Pt tracking, payroll, reimbursements, taxes, statistics.
Health care organizations are challenged daily by the need to manage and integrate clinical, financial and operational information. As this need grows and evolves, you require hospital information systems (HIS) that can keep pace. From large, multi-entity organizations to the small and mid-size hospital.
Also the structure of the hospital itself is evolving from a vertical, aggregated organisation, towards the integration of a set of specialized departments, each of them with its own logistic, organisational and administrative requirements.

Automated HIS technology

Now a days, we are surrounded of technologies. And in our situation today, we can't help ourselves not to use those technologies that can help us in our daily living.
Especially in clinical settings/hospitals, all the stuff in the hospitals using modern technologies, for them to improve the way they care their patients. Like the electronic chart system, the physician, nurses and other healthcare provider  used it to record, to retrieve and view the patient data, to make orders and to communicate with other departments or sections in the hospitals. So it is easy for them to do well their jobs. Example for that is the Tablet, it is extremely mobile allowing the nurse to process information beside the patient or at a point of care.Second, is the electronic monitoring system, this system is really important especially to the hospitals. Because it monitor the vital signs, cardiac, respiratory, and other physiologic activity coming from the input sensor devices which the patient hooked to their body. Next, is the automated machine administration system. You can used this system through the wristband of your patients with their bar-code. And after you scanned the bar-code, the patient's information is displayed promptly on the PDA screen and documents the medication administration. Next is the Automated Medication Dispensing System. It looks like a big drawer composed of about 10-20 trays. And the nurse must confirms first the 5Rs of the patient, and when it already confirmed, the nurse goes to the automated medication dispensing system. It is really nice and effective if all hospitals using it. Because the healthcare provider can do well their jobs. Next, is the Automated Labeling Machine, this machine is really effective because it reduces the errors on the part of the nurse especially when it done to the POC. Because it easily and quickly produce the labels for specimen or sample bottles and other items related to your patient. Nest is the Automated Billing machine. It looks and works like a teller automatic machine/ATM. It is easily to use, you will just enter the ID number of your patient, then it display the full page printout of the latest billing status of your patient. And because of that machine, you will easily find their billings without being stressed. Next is the home health care system. It looks like a desktop or laptop PC connected to a monitoring devices where the patient hooks their body, and the healthcare provide can easily take care of them, even though they are in distance. Lastly, is the Healthcare Information System Program. It is the integration of all systems of the various clinical or non-clinical departments institutions.
